Vincent Keymer, born on November 15, 2004, in Mainz, Germany, is one of the world’s leading young chess talents and Germany’s youngest grandmaster. Hailed as the nation’s greatest chess prodigy since Emanuel Lasker, Keymer first gained global attention at the 2018 Grenke Open, where, at just 13, he scored 8/9 ahead of 49 GMs—including four 2700+ players—achieving a performance rating of 2798, the highest ever for an under-14 player. | Keymer earned his grandmaster title in 2020, crossed 2600 in 2021, and surpassed the 2700 threshold in 2022. He finished second to Magnus Carlsen at the 2022 World Rapid Championship and impressed at the 2023 World Cup, narrowly losing to Carlsen. In 2024–2025, Keymer’s rise continued: he won Division II of the Chessable Masters, the Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess Grand Slam, and the Chennai Grand Masters, surpassing 2750 to enter the world’s top ten. Known for his versatile style and tactical acumen, Keymer is a dominant force across classical, rapid, and blitz formats.
