Arjun Erigaisi, born 3 September 2003 in Warangal, Telangana, India, rose to grandmaster at age 14 and quickly became a standout in the chess world with his sharp, tactical style. He trained early at the BS Chess Academy in Hanamkonda and by 2022 had already won the Indian National Championship and strong open events such as the Menorca Open and the Stepan Avagyan Memorial. In 2024–25 Arjun broke new ground: he joined the exclusive 2800+ rating club with a peak of 2801 in December 2024, making him the second Indian ever to cross that threshold. He played key roles in elite events such as Norway Chess 2025—where he challenged top‑ranked opponents—and helped India’s team achieve historic success in rapid/blitz team championships.Confident, dynamic and evolving fast, Arjun is firmly established as India’s top player and a serious contender on the global stage.
