Kateryna Lagno (born December 27, 1989 in Lviv, Ukraine) is a chess grandmaster whose career spans prodigious early success and sustained elite performance. She became a Woman Grandmaster at just 12 and earned the full GM title in 2007.
Renowned for her aggressive yet flexible style, Lagno has claimed top titles including the Women’s World Blitz Championships (2010, 2018, 2019) and the Women’s World Rapid Championship (2014). She also finished runner‑up in the 2018 Women’s World Championship and has amassed multiple gold medals in team events at the Women’s Chess Olympiads and European Team Championships.
As of November 2025, her classical rating stands at 2517, making her one of the world’s top female players. Despite balancing her personal life—including motherhood Lagno remains firmly competitive at the highest level, demonstrating longevity, versatility, and enduring strength across formats.
