Polina Shuvalova, born March 12, 2001, in Orsk, Russia, is a Russian International Master and one of the country’s leading female chess talents. She is a three-time World Girls Champion, winning back-to-back under-18 titles in 2018 and 2019, and the under-20 title in 2019. Domestically, she won the Moscow Women’s Championship in 2016 and the Russian Junior Championship in 2017, showcasing consistent excellence across multiple age categories.
Shuvalova has also excelled in speed chess, winning the 2023 “I’m Not a GM Speed Chess Championship,” becoming the first woman to claim the title, and reaching the finals of the 2024 Women’s Speed Chess Championship.
As of October 2025, she holds a classical rating of 2479, rapid rating of 2357, and blitz rating of 2399. With a versatile opening repertoire and victories against top opponents like Nils Grandelius, Shuvalova continues to rise as a formidable competitor on the international stage, demonstrating skill across classical, rapid, and blitz formats.
