Yu Yangyi, born June 8, 1994, in Huangshi, Hubei, is a distinguished Chinese super grandmaster who achieved the prestigious GM title at just 14 years, 11 months, and 23 days old—becoming the youngest male grandmaster in China at that time.​ Yu's extraordinary career is studded with multiple prestigious titles, demonstrating consistent excellence across classical, rapid, and blitz formats. He is a three-time Chinese Chess Champion (2013, 2015, 2017) and won the 2014 Asian Chess Championship, establishing dominance on the continental stage. His role in China's success at the 41st Chess Olympiad in 2014 was instrumental: he contributed to the team's gold medal while simultaneously earning an individual gold medal on board 3 with a remarkable 2912 performance rating—the highest of the entire event.​ At age 31, Yu maintains world-class competitive standards.
